Chief Accountant

ORYX Energies S.A (OESA), one of Africa’s leading independent oil and gas providers, is seeking a highly qualified Chief Accountant to join its team in Lusaka, Zambia.  

Job Purpose:
Ensure the credibility of company accounts in compliance with management standards and IFRS, while overseeing the accounting team.  

Key Responsibilities:
- Review cash & bank reconciliationstwice weekly.  
- Reconcile debtors, suppliers, inventory, and tax records.  
- Prepare financial reports, ratio/variance analysis, and management packs (monthly/quarterly).  
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies.  
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.  
- Conduct internal audits and ensure regulatory audits are completed on time.  
- Maintain fixed asset records and ensure proper documentation.  
- Lead financial system integrity checks and resolve errors.  
- Train staff and assist the Risk & Optimization Manager as needed.  

Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  
- Professional Qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ZICA)+ ZICA membership.  
- 5+ years post-qualification experience(oil & gas industry preferred).  
- Strong financial analysis, ERP, and IFRS knowledge.  
- Leadership, risk management, and strategic planning skills.  
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player.
